Try with the latest MtoA, if you don't have that already. Open the Arnold Render View without rendering (Arnold > Open Arnold Render View), and enable View > Log > Full. So I figured maybe it was my project, I am doing a likeness study, using xgen etc, so I started a completely new project. Generally 95% of the time, it crashes before I have even started the render, the viewer is just open. However when launching Arnold to view my render, it either crashes Maya instantly, or seems to crash Maya after a render or two. When I start maya, set projects, open files, and work it works absolutely fine. I started having this issue a couple days back after rendering in Maya 2018's Arnold for several months now, never had this issue previously.
